According to a newly published report by TokenInsight, Binance maintained its dominance among centralized exchanges (CEXs) in Q1 2025, holding an average market share of 43.9%. Despite the overall market decline, MEXC has been a standout performer in the spot market, growing its share from 6.1% in Q4 2024 to 7.8% in Q1 2025, the biggest gainer among all CEXs. Bitget, Coinbase, and HTX also saw modest growth in the spot market, each increasing between 0.4% and 1.1%. The report reveals a shift in market sentiment in Q1 2025 following the bullish momentum seen at the end of 2024. The year-end rally, driven by favorable macroeconomic conditions such as Donald Trump’s presidential election victory and Fed rate cuts, had pushed the total crypto market capitalization to approximately $3.5 trillion. However, this situation reversed in the first quarter of 2025. Uncertainty surrounding the policies of the new US administration, combined with expectations of a rate hike by the European Central Bank (ECB), led to a more cautious outlook. As a result, the total crypto market cap fell by 22.8% to around $2.7 trillion. Bitcoin fell by 10%-15% from its peak to around $85,000, while Ethereum fell even more sharply by 30%-35%, exacerbated by the record $1.5 billion hack on the Bybit platform. The combined trading volume of the top 10 cryptocurrency exchanges reached $22.99 trillion in Q1 2025, down 12.53% from the previous quarter. Binance’s trading volume has decreased from $9.95 trillion in Q4 2024 to around $8.39 trillion in Q1 2025, but it still has the largest market share at 36.5%.
